Donohue’s Mike Harvey, along with Carl Fedders, Public Works Director for the City of Battle Creek, recently presented “Battle Creek Biosolids Composting – Resource Not Waste” at the virtual Michigan Water Environment Association’s (MWEA) Biosolids Conference.

Battle Creek's wastewater treatment plant has seen decreased flows over the years and currently generates 7,500 dry tons of sludge with significant loadings from food processors. Mike and Carl discussed the current challenges the City of Battle Creek is facing, including increased landfill costs and limited time for land application of biosolids.

Donohue and the City are collaborating towards developing a long-term sustainable disposal solution that is usable year-round and has low operational costs.

Mike is a senior wastewater engineer and project manager located in Illinois and Michigan. He has over 30 years of water and wastewater and project management experience with extensive technical knowledge and a focus on superior client service.
