Description:

In this position as CAD Manager you will provide company-wide CAD administration, support, training, and mentoring. You will be at the forefront of reviewing, recommending, and implementing new CAD software and hardware technologies while interfacing with the Donohue leadership team. The ideal candidate will have CAD experience in the consulting engineering field, preferably in the water, wastewater and/or civil-transportation sectors

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage overall optimization and administration of company’s CAD environment
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new CAD technologies. Provide CAD leadership and vision to the firm’s management group
  • Provide CAD technical support and troubleshoot CAD issues
  • Work closely with all design disciplines (process, structural, electrical, HVAC-mechanical, controls, civil, architectural) to develop and maintain standards and effectively implement and facilitate those standards throughout the company
  • Train and support new and existing Donohue staff on various CAD software, design tools, and standards utilizing best practices
  • Ensure stable and streamlined operations of in-house CAD software
  • Analyze and resolve user CAD program issues in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Develop in-house training programs on appropriate CAD issues
  • Maintain firm’s CAD standards and ensure that these standards are used on all projects
  • Work with external parties (clients, vendors, consultants) to coordinate project-specific CAD work and resolve issues that may arise
  • Interview and review CAD competencies during employee hiring process
  • Provide hardware/software purchasing recommendations to IT.

Requirements

5+ years working knowledge of Autodesk products in a production and/or support role; engineering design environment preferred
Minimum technical degree or equivalent
In-depth knowledge of Autodesk products (Plant3D, Building Design Suite, Infrastructure Design Suite, Revit), basic knowledge of Bentley Microstation a plus
Thorough understanding of CAD applications and best practices
Microsoft Office products proficiency
Ability to effectively communicate with management, project managers, peers and clients verbally and in writing
Ability to provide group and individual CAD training
Ability to work effectively within a group as well as independently with minimal supervision
